Ashlee Vance is a feature writer at Bloomberg Businessweek, a reporter, writer, and filmmaker. Apart from his known work as the author of "Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future," he has also written "Geek Silicon Valley" in 2007 and his recent publication in May 2023 titled "When the Heavens Went on Sale: The Misfits and Geniuses Racing to Put Space Within Reach." He has previously worked as a reporter for The New York Times, The Economist, and The Register.

In "Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future," Vance provides an inside look into the extraordinary life and times of Silicon Valley's entrepreneur, Elon Musk. He spent over 50 hours in conversation with Musk and interviewed close to 300 people to tell the tumultuous stories of Musk's world-changing companies: PayPal, Tesla Motors, SpaceX, and SolarCity. Vance's other book, "Geek Silicon Valley," published in 2007, adds to his repertoire of insightful technology journalism.

As a proficient multi-media storyteller, Vance hosted an audio podcast called "Semi-Coherent Computing" between 2007 and 2008. He expanded his skills into video, writing, producing, and hosting the "Hello World" video series for Bloomberg, which was nominated for an Emmy in 2016. On top of his writing and reporting career, Vance is currently working on a TV series for HBO based on his Elon Musk book and a documentary also for HBO based on his latest book.
