On February 23, 2010 Ashleigh McIvor made history, becoming the first ever Olympic Gold Medalist in the sport of Women’s Ski Cross at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.

In her hometown of Whistler, Ashleigh grew up alpine ski racing, getting involved in Ski Cross in 2003. She immediately saw success, qualifying for the X-Games and the World Cup circuit as the youngest competitor in Ski Cross at that time.

Ashleigh’s natural talent and ability - partnered with her unmatched charisma – drew the attention of fashion photographers and TV producers. Ashleigh was chosen as the ambassador of Ski Cross, making her the go-to athlete for all of the media and sport sponsors. As the sport grew in popularity, so did Ashleigh. She has become one of the most beloved figures in skiing, and she continues to win hearts with her phenomenal performances and personality.

Placing second in the 2004 World Cup Competition, Ashleigh went on to win the US Freeskiing Open in Vail, Colorado. Continuing to compete and win internationally, Ashleigh patiently waited for Ski Cross to be named as an Olympic sport. In 2006, it was announced that Ski Cross would be included at the program at the Vancouver Games, and Ashleigh set her sights on the gold. In 2009, she was crowned the International Ski Federation Ski Cross World Champion, granting her an immediate spot on the 2010 Olympic Team.

During the 2010 season, Ashleigh ranked second in the standings, made the finals in six of eight races, earned five World Cup podiums, and obtained an X-Games silver medal - all prior to the Olympics. Her extraordinary year included winning the first gold medal to ever be awarded in Olympic Ski Cross on home soil, in her hometown.

At just 26 years of age, Ashleigh is just beginning to embark on her potential as a true Champion.
