Ashley Park is a Grammy and Tony-nominated actress known for portraying Mindy Chen in the Netflix comedy series "Emily in Paris." Park also originated the role of Gretchen Wieners in the Broadway musical "Mean Girls," for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. She has recurring roles in "Beef" and "Only Murders in the Building." Park stars in Adele Lim's, writer of Crazy Rich Asians, directional debut Joy Ride.
After making her Broadway debut in Broadway's "Mamma Mia!," Park starred as Tuptim opposite Ken Watanabe, Kelli O'Hara, and Conrad Ricamora in the Tony-Award-winning Broadway revival of "The King And I" at New York's Lincoln Center. She then co-starred in Broadway's "Sunday In The Park With George" starring Jake Gyllenhaal while filming the second season of "Nightcap." Park took Broadway and Off-Broadway by storm. She starred in the award-winning "KPOP" and was honored with the esteemed Lucille Lortel award for Lead Actress in a Musical.
During her sophomore year of high school, Park was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and was hospitalized for eight months. When selected to be a recipient of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, her wish was to go to New York City and see the Broadway productions of "A Chorus Line," "The Lion King," "Spring Awakening," and "Wicked." After finishing her chemotherapy, Park was cast as the lead role of Millie Dillmount in her high school's production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie."
Park graduated from the famed Musical Theatre program at The University of Michigan where she co-founded the Michigan Performance Outreach Workshop, which aims to help the youth of Southeast Michigan foster life-long relationships with the performing arts through biannual workshops led by UM students. She was awarded the Willis Patterson Diversity Award for her work with the program.
