Executive Director of the National Association of Scholars (NAS)

Ashley Thorne is executive director of the National Association of Scholars (NAS). She received her master’s degree in linguistics from the CUNY Graduate Center in 2014, and her undergraduate degree in politics, philosophy, and economics from The King’s College in 2007. She is the lead author of four studies of college “common reading” programs, Beach Books: What Do Colleges and Universities Want Students to Read Outside Class? (National Association of Scholars, 2010-2014).

She is also author of “Ducking the Coffins: How I Became an Edu-Con,” in an anthology edited by Jonah Goldberg, Proud to Be Right (2010); as well as “Hate Crime Hoaxes on College and University Campuses,” in Hate Crimes: A Reference Handbook, 3rd Ed. (2015). She is currently writing a research report, Making Citizens, on civic education at the college level, to be published by the NAS in 2016.
