Audrey Henderson

Founder & Owner, Knowledge Empowerment

Audrey is an independent writer, researcher, data analyst and policy analyst with advanced degrees in sociology and law from Northwestern University. Her personal and professional focus is on sustainable development in the built environment, defined broadly to include culture and the arts, personal finance, travel and education as well as brick and mortar living and commercial spaces. She envisions a broader integration of tech and big data with stakeholders on the ground to address social challenges.

Audrey became involved with the tech space in 2012 while researching strategies to maximize the potential of vacant and abandoned properties as affordable housing and mixed use developments. In the process, she co-designed (with Dan Fehrenbach of CNT Energy) a prototype map-based tool called Hidden Value in Abandoned Buildings (HViAB) that maps amenities and resources located within a half-mile radius of a vacant or abandoned building. The HViAB tool was a runner-up in the 2012 CNT Urban Sustainability Hackathon.
