Avan Tudor Jogia is a Canadian actor, singer, writer, director, and activist. He is best known for his television roles as Beck Oliver in the Nickelodeon sitcom "Victorious," Danny Desai in the ABC Family drama "Twisted," Roman Mercer in the Syfy paranormal action series "Ghost Wars," and Ulysses Zane in Starz comedy "Now Apocalypse." He has also gained recognition for his role in the television film A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story.
Jogia first came to prominence with his portrayal of Danny Araujo in the 2006 biographical television film A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story. After moving to the United States in his late teens, he landed various television roles in series such as "Caprica" and the miniseries "Tut." He has also appeared in films including Spectacular!, Finding Hope Now, Rags, Ten Thousand Saints, I Am Michael, Zombieland: Double Tap, and the Netflix interactive rom-com Choose Love. Notably, Jogia starred in the romance-drama film Paper Year and the coming-of-age comedy The New Romantic. His directorial debut came in 2011 with the short film "Alex," and he recently directed and starred in the short film "Here Now."
In 2011, Jogia co-founded the LGBT online organization Straight But Not Narrow, which seeks to shape the viewpoints of teenagers and adults on matters pertaining to the LGBT community. He has been actively involved in campaigns against bullying and advocating for LGBT rights. In 2019, he published his first book, "Mixed Feelings," a series of short stories and poems about multiracial identity. The same year, he also published another book "Zombieland: Double Tap - The Development of a Sequel." He and his brother Ketan make up the band St. Ivory, which was later renamed to Saint Ivory. They released an album to complement the book, also titled “Mixed Feelings." Fluent in English, Gujarati, and French, he holds dual citizenship and is a noteworthy figure in the film industry both in the United States and Canada.
