Azure Antoinette

CEO, Commissioned Poet & Author, Millennial Advocate

Called "the Maya Angelou of the Millennial generation,” Azure Antoinette is a poet, spoken word artist and millennial and arts education advocate whose performance poetry explores the ways social media is reshaping humanity.

In 2014, Glass Elevator Media — a creative content incubator — named Antoinette its Chief Marketing Officer. In this role, she will oversee aspects of online and offline marketing for the company and Glass Elevator brands including She's So Boss, Viewur and Real Talk. Antoinette will also participate in creative decisions around the marketing of film and television properties, music and publishing, and live events.

Antoinette is the founder and CEO of The Aalchemik Collective, a creative talent incubator which houses Aalchemik Apparel, a free-trade clothing line centered around positive messaging and the human ability to be both passionate and indecisive; Aalchemik Press, an independent publishing house for poetry and narrative literary work; and EGAMI Collective, a visual art incubator curated to support urban photography, graffiti, muralist and street art.

She is also the founder of STUDIO: alchemy, the official non-profit of The Aalchemik Collective. STUDIO: alchemy is an arts education organization which provides young millennials, ages 15-22, with the opportunity to discover their own passions from a team of gifted, original teaching artists. For these projects and many others, Antoinette was included in Forbes' “100 Most Powerful Women in the World” issue in 2012 and was featured in a special section titled "Women Helping Women."

Azure Antoinette is in high demand as a poet, arts education consultant, speaker and workshop facilitator. She has been commissioned to write for Maria Shriver, The Gap, Johnson and Johnson, Beats By Dr. Dre, Girl Scouts of America, The Documentary Group, California Arts Council, American Cancer Society's benefit Art 4 Life and more. She is an official partner of TD Ameritrade seeking to bridge the worlds of finance and art, as well as an official Clean & Clear Ambassador for their “See the Real Me” campaign.

Antoinette served as the closing speaker for the 2013 TEDWomen Conference in San Francisco and has spoken at numerous TEDx events across the country. In 2014, Antoinette and her work was the focus of a short film produced by The Gap Foundation for their “One Stitch Closer” campaign. As a part of the campaign, Gap released a limited edition shirt featuring a quote from Antoinette and the message “Inspire Change” for International Women’s Day 2014, which sold out online and at stores around the country.

As a published poet, Azure Antoinette is the author of three titles: BitterSweet, Commissioned, Commissioned: the Back Story and a yet to be named publication. Antoinette believes that we should all strive to do what we love for a living and she can be found living by her mantra, “Do What You Love and Love What You Do” for every day is never ordinary but always brilliant— and always alchemy.

Humanity's Changing Face: Coping with the Human Condition Gone Viral

When was the last time you sent someone a note that you hand wrote, addressed, and mailed? How about the last time you personally received a letter from a close friend? These days, everything is electronic. There is no problem with the efficiency of electronic communication, which has made life simpler, faster, and more efficient. However, there is an underlying question: Has the human condition gone viral? This keynote is a conversation topic and a moment to remind ourselves about the basics, like holding hands or remembering to embrace face-to-face communication. Azure Antoinette opens and ends this 45-minute session with her acclaimed poem "Humanity."

Commissioned Poems

Azure Antoinette will present a five- to seven-minute poem to open or close (or both) your conference. She takes a word, a thought, a picture, an emotion, and client feedback to customize a poem that she then presents in spoken word. It's a powerful, unique way to kick off or wrap up the event – with a poem your audience will never forget.
