Barry D. Gold is director of the Walton Family Foundation’s environment program, leading its freshwater and marine initiatives. He previously was director of marine conservation at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, managed the David and Lucile Packard Foundation’s work on ecosystem-based management and linking science to policy, and was chief of the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center, where he led an effort to restore the Colorado River ecosystem throughout the Grand Canyon. Gold has held senior positions with the US Department of the Interior, the US House of Representatives’ Committee on Science, the US National Academy of Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
