Bear Woznick

Masters World Champion Tandem Surfer

Bear Woznick was born September 21 , 1953, Powers Lake, ND, USA is an author, two time world champion tandem surfer and the Ambassador of Tandem Surfing. He co-founded the International Tandem Surfing Association for serious competitors as well as The BearsWave.Com Tandem Expression Teams for those who simply want to enjoy the beauty and art of tandem. He is featured in Fuel TV'S Clean Break episodes and hosts the BearsWave.com weekly podcasts. So far Bear has surfed on four continents and even more oceans. Where ever he goes, he is acknowledged as having revived the ancient art of tandem surfing.

He has twice run with the bulls in Pamplona and once on the bloodiest day in its history. He is a licensed pilot and he skydives. He holds the very rare ninja blackbelt. He’s also licensed in scuba and enjoys being a well-rounded waterman; sailing, spear fishing, distance paddling amd surfing his outrigger canoe. He paddled his surfboard out to the dangerous waves of Teahopu’u in Tahiti on a huge forty-foot day that came to be known as Bloody Sunday; the bloodiest day in the history of surfing and his surfed epic waves at Waimea Bay. Bear paddled his surfboard across twenty-eight miles of treacherous open-ocean between Moloka’i and O’ahu. He has peddled his bicycle across the USA from San Diego on the Pacific to Jacksonville Florida on the Atlantic. He has own CPA firm and is a business and life coach.

Bear is the author of Deep In The Wave, an intimate portrayal of the relationship between surfing and the soul, in which he shares his deep knowledge of the sport on every page along with his spiritual vision.

Audiences will be captivated by all the inside surfing information, from learning how a surfboard is made to accompanying Bear as he describes catching a monster wave and riding for his life. His portrayal of the beauty and power of the ocean is an inspiring one that truly showcases the profound meaning surfing has had on his life. Instead of standing on the shore with our toes in the surf, Bear takes us on the board - to the deep water - to watch and wait - and, if need be, to paddle hard to survive.

The spiritual journey described in Deep In The Wave and his presentations is as exciting as the surfing and Bear keeps audiences engaged every step of the way. As Bear says, surfers take risks “going deep” into a big wave and we can all “go deep” spiritually on our path to God.

Bear lives on the beach in Waikiki, Hawaii, and is proud parent to Fawn, Jeremiah, Shane, and Joshua.
