Ben David  

District Attorney

Ben David has been the elected district attorney for New Hanover and Pender Counties in North Carolina since November 2004. In that time, he has led an office of 45 public servants who work with over 1,000 officers in 20 different police agencies to prosecute over 75,000 cases filed annually. For the last 20 years, he has personally handled many of the biggest trials in the region and has written about them in ""Crime and Community in the Cape Fear.""

Ben’s professional organizations include the National District Attorney’s Association, the NC District Attorneys Association, and the NC State Bar. He is a member of the Wilmington Downtown Rotary and a founding member of the Blue Ribbon Commission on the Prevention of Youth Violence in Wilmington. As District Attorney, he served on the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism, the Governor’s Gang Task Force, and is a founding member of Law Enforcement Leaders to Reduce Crime and Incarceration. Ben is a past president of the NC Conference of District Attorneys.

Ben and his wife Stephanie make their home in Wilmington, NC with their three children.
