Beth Ditto

Singer-Songwriter, Indie Rocker & Actress; LGBTQ Activist

Beth Ditto's public presence was first felt through her work with the indie rock band Gossip, which led to comparisons with greats like Etta James, Janis Joplin, and Tina Turner. However, her talents extend beyond singing, as she has also made a name for herself in the fashion industry following the disbandment of Gossip. Her solo career in music has also been marked by notable accomplishments such as charting on the ARIA Chart, Ultratop, SNEP, and Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana. Furthermore, she has been featured on the Official Charts Company and the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Her acting roles further demonstrate her versatility as an artist. She made her film acting debut in Gus Van Sant's "Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot" in 2018 and was also cast in the Showtime series "On Becoming a God in Central Florida" in 2019. Currently, she is part of the main cast of the TV series "Monarch," where she portrays Gigi Taylor-Roman. Her acting portfolio also includes appearances in movies such as "Nocturnal Animals" and "On Becoming a God in Central Florida."

Behind the scenes, Ditto's life experiences have shaped her career and her art. In 2013, she married her girlfriend and best friend, Kristin Ogata, in Maui, Hawaii. They legally married in their home state of Oregon in December 2014 after same-sex marriage became legal there. Her personal journey with love and heartbreak has resulted in influential music, as seen in her 2018 solo album "Fake Sugar," a reflection of her real-life heartbreak. She also co-wrote a memoir titled "Coal to Diamonds" with Michelle Tea, published in 2012. Her contributions to the music and LGBTQ+ communities have not gone unnoticed, earning her nominations for the Stonewall Awards Hero of the Year in 2007 and the Gay Music Chart Awards Best Lyric Video for "In and Out" in 2017.
