Betty Nguyen is an award-winning journalist whose work has taken her across the globe. She is currently a co-anchor at WPIX in New York City and has spent her career covering some of the most significant issues of our time.
Nguyen has worked extensively as an anchor for NBC News and MSNBC, where she covered pivotal events including the 2016 Presidential election, the Boston Marathon bombings, the election of Pope Francis, the birth of Prince George, and the death of Nelson Mandela. Before joining NBC, she was at CBS where she anchored "The CBS Morning News" and reported for "CBS This Morning." Her coverage included the 2012 Presidential election, the death of Osama Bin Laden, the Royal wedding, and the Gulf oil spill. Earlier in her career at CNN, Nguyen anchored the weekend edition of CNN Newsroom, contributing to the network's Peabody Award-winning coverage of Hurricane Katrina and its coverage of the 2006 tsunami in South Asia that won an Alfred I. duPont award.
Nguyen co-founded Help the Hungry, a global non-profit dedicated to alleviating hunger and providing humanitarian aid. Her work both in journalism and humanitarian efforts has earned her multiple prestigious awards, including two Peabody Awards, an Alfred I. duPont Award, and several Emmy Awards.
Her personal journey from fleeing a war-torn country to settling in America is a central theme in her speaking engagements, emphasizing diversity, overcoming adversity, and the impact of humanitarian work.
