Bexy Cameron was born into the Children of God, one of the world's most notorious cults. She was nine years old when she experienced her first exorcism, held in a secret commune deep in the British countryside. At 10, she was placed on Silence Restriction, forced to be silent for a whole year.

Even from an early age, she knew what was happening was not right. At the age of 15, she escaped, leaving behind her parents and 11 siblings.

Long after her escape from the cult and now a successful film-maker and creative director, Cameron could no longer ignore her need for answers to questions that had haunted her for a decade. Why were her parents still in the cult? Can these places so renowned for evil ever be a force for good as their acolytes so fervently believe they are? Determined to find peace, she set off on a road trip across America to explore the hold cults still hold today. We all know that our childhoods can cast long, dragging shadows.
