Bill Davenhall
Health and Human Services Expert Working to Improve Physicians' Diagnostic Techniques By Merging Patients' Geographic & Environmental Data With Their Medical Records
Bill Davenhall served as Esri’s Global Health and Human Services Solutions Manager since 1997 before assuming his new role as a Senior Health Advisor in 2013.
Bill's experience in health and human services spans nearly four decades and includes executive leadership of hospitals, health, social service, research organizations, and healthcare data companies. Bill is a frequent author and international speaker on the subject of the application and use of geographical information for solving complex human health and human service challenges.
Bill’s most recent work, geomedicine, was launched in a TEDMED presentation in 2009. Bill holds a Masters Degree (with a concentration in Medical Behavioral Science) from the University of Kentucky and was awarded an NIMH Traineeship in conjunction with his work at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Bill was recently appointed to a working group of the US National Committee of Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) of the Department of Health and Human Services, focused on making recommendations concerning innovative access and use of Medicare and Medicaid data. Bill also serves as Director for several not-for-profit boards including the Stewards of Change Institute (health and human service IT interoperability), the Alliance for Clinical Research Excellence and Safety (innovations in clinical trials research), and the Health Data Consortium (health data access and use).
Bill is the recipient of the prestigious Elliot M. Stone award for improving access and use of health data from the National Association of Health Data organizations in 2012.
