Bill Hader

Actor & Comedian, Known for "Saturday Night Live"

Bill Hader is a comedian and a former "Saturday Night Live" cast member. Originally from Tulsa, OK, Hader's comedic skills eventually led him to the Los Angeles chapter of the famed Second City, a comedy troupe that has been a training ground for many SNL cast members since the 1970's. During his time at Second City, Hader worked as a production assistant on the DVD "Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy and Collateral Damage," as well as an assistant on VH1's "The Surreal Life."

Prior to "SNL," Hader was perhaps most known for his work as a field agent on MTV's "Punk'd." Hader was discovered by Megan Mullally of "Will & Grace" while working with the Los Angeles-based comedy troupe Animals From the Future. Mullally brought him to the attention of "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels. Hader was hired as a featured player and made his debut on the show on October 1, 2005 (along with fellow newcomer Andy Samberg).

While on "SNL" Hader became known for his impersonations of celebrities including; Al Pacino, Eliot Spitzer, Charlie Sheen and Julian Assange among others. Arguably his most famous original character was Stefon, Weekend Update's flamboyant New York City Correspondent. Some say that his style and talent has a strong flavor of Dan Aykroyd and Andy Kaufman.

On July 19th, 2012, Hader received his first nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on Saturday Night Live. He is the first male "SNL" cast member to receive this nomination since Eddie Murphy in 1983. After eight years on the show, Hader left in May 2013.

In May 2014 it was announced Hader had signed an exclusive development deal with HBO to create and star in his own series for the network. Additionally, he most recently starred alongside Amy Schumer in the new comedy film, "Trainwreck."
