Country Music Singer-Songwriter Known for "Achy Breaky Heart" & Featuring on Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road"

Born in Flatwoods, Kentucky, Billy Ray Cyrus, once known for his country singing, hunky good looks and mullet hairstyle, went on to a career as an actor. His first album hit the top of the pop and country charts, driven in part of the success of "Achy Breaky Heart." In 2006, he took the role of the father of two in the Disney Channel’s "Hannah Montana," which launched him into a new realm of fame.

Cyrus started his singing career performing gospel music in a group with his father. He went on to form the band Sly Dog in the early 1980s, and later found success as a solo artist, signing a recording contract with Mercury Records in 1990. His first album, Some Gave All, hit the top of the pop and country charts, driven in part of the success of the single "Achy Breaky Heart."

In 2001, Cyrus took on the lead role in the medical drama "Doc. Some of Cyrus' music also found its way on to the program as well, including tracks from his 2000 album Southern Rain. The show ended in 2004.

He returned in 2006 in the role of Robby Stewart, the father of two in the Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana."

In 2007, Cyrus joined "Dancing with the Stars" and lasted for eight weeks of the competition.

Cyrus earned his first number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 as a featured artist on a remix of Lil Nas X's song "Old Town Road", which has spent a record-breaking nineteen consecutive weeks at the top spot. It also spent a record-breaking twenty consecutive weeks at the top spot on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Billboard Hot Rap Songs.
