Bobby Bell was one of the greatest defensive players of his era.

The versatile 6-4, 228-pound Bell started his college career as a quarterback at the University of Minnesota where he was a 2-time All-American and Outland Trophy winner.

The Kansas City Chiefs made him a seventh round draft choice in the 1963 AFL draft. Bell played the defensive end position to begin his 12-year career with Kansas City .

Bell, who won all-league honors as a defensive end in 1964, made a position change to outside linebacker in 1965. His size and speed made him an ideal linebacker on the outside. His greatness at linebacker garnered him  All-AFL or All-NFL honors every year from 1965 through 1971.

Bell was an exceptional pass defender, intercepting 26 passes and returning 6 of them for touchdowns. He also scored touchdowns on two fumble recoveries and an onside kick .

Bobby was built like a linebacker and presented a fearsome appearance on the field. He had the body to as deal out as much punishment as he recieved.

Bell became the first Chiefs player ever to be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1983.

Bobby Bell won one Super Bowl in 1970 with the Chiefs.
