Bobby Deen

Celebrity Chef, Author & Star of "Not My Mama's Meals"

Bobby Deen has long been an essential ingredient in the recipe that has made his mother, Paula Deen, an American hospitality and cooking icon. The warmth and kindness that are so much a part of his mother’s persona are family traits that were passed on to Bobby and his older brother Jamie.

Bobby, along with his brother Jamie and Paula, founded a small Savannah, Georgia catering business known for delivering “lunch-and-love-in-a-bag” which grew into one of Savannah’s most-loved restaurants, The Lady & Sons. Bobby handled front-of-house duties in the restaurant, leaving his mother free to craft recipes that gave The Lady & Sons its first national exposure and led the Deen family to becoming one of the most recognized and beloved families in America.

With The Lady & Sons firmly established, Bobby and Jamie began appearing on their mother’s cooking shows on the Food Network. They soon launched their own show on the network, “Road Tasted,” which followed Bobby and Jamie as they explored America in search of love and warmth-infused cooking. Both Bobby and Jamie Deen began drawing a new, younger audience to the growing number of Deen family fans in America. Since then, Bobby’s hit show, Not My Mama’s Meals, aired on the Cooking Channel and brought some of his family’s favorite Southern recipes to the table with his healthier, lighter approach to cooking.

To date, Bobby and Jamie have published four books, “The Deen Bros. Cookbook-Recipes From the Road” released in 2007, “Y’all Come Eat” in 2008, “Take It Easy” in 2009 and “Get Fired Up” in 2011. In 2013, Bobby published his first solo book, "From Mama’s Table to Mine," which was a #1 New York Times Bestseller and "Everyday Eats" in 2014. Together, Bobby and Jamie published four stand-alone magazines in 2010. They expanded their efforts with a line of spices, BBQ sauces and t-shirts.

In 2014, Bobby hosted Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship, where eight amateur bakers displayed their baking skills in a holiday cooking competition. Bobby hosted the Holiday Baking Championship again in 2015 as well as Food Network’s Spring Baking Championship, where eight pastry-savvy chefs competed in a springtime baking competition with the hopes of winning a sweet spot in the hearts of judges and the title of Spring Baking Champion. In addition, Bobby co-hosted two popular shows, Cooking Channel’s Junk Food Flip with Nikki Dinki as well as Food Network’s Southern Fried Road Trip with his brother, Jamie Deen.

Since 2015, the Deen Family has opened five new restaurants, including Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Branson, Missouri; and Foley, Alabama; and Paula Deen’s Creek House in Savannah, Georgia. In 2020, more Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen locations are set to open, including a location in Nashville, Tennesee.

In June 2017, the Deen brothers launched Deen Brothers Cookware and other appliances on ShopHQ.

Today, Bobby lives with his wife Claudia in Savannah. They recently welcomed triplets in October 2018
