Emmy Award-Winning Sports Commentator

Bomani Jones is a versatile sports talk host and writer. He is best known for his exceptional television, podcast and radio programming on the Worldwide Leader in Sports, ESPN. Jones started as a writer for ESPN in 2004.

He established a major destination for sports lovers, entertainers and other cultural icons with his popular ESPN podcast, The Right Time with Bomani Jones. First airing on March 30, 2015, Jones’ show quickly grew from a sports radio format to an on-demand multi-platform podcast.

In late night, Bomani hosted and executive produced the HBO series, Game Theory with Bomani Jones, welcoming new viewers to his satirical commentary. The weekly sports show launched Oct. 7th, 2022 in NYC.

An early pioneer of blogging and podcasting, Bomani continues to host his own podcast, The Evening Jones, since 2011. The Atlanta native, who grew up in Houston, gives listeners the chance to ask questions and explore his life in the media. Today TEJ provides an organic, behind the grind conversation with his longest supporters.

In 2022, Jones contributed to HBO sports series, Back on the Record with Bob Costas providing in-studio roundtable discussions and commentary. Where he’s known for his unique spin on sports.

Legendary Sportscaster Bob Costas described Jones’ style and analysis this way. “He’s a lucid thinker. His points have a beginning, middle, and end.”

He regularly makes guest appearances across ESPN’s studio programming, prominently as a panelist on Around the Horn. He is a key contributor to many programs on the network, such as Highly Questionable, SportsCenter, Pardon the Interruption, First Take, Outside the Lines and more. Jones is best known for his appearances on ESPN Radio’s The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.

Jones co-anchored midday ESPN talk show, High Noon with Pablo Torre in 2018. The duo debate program covered the big sports topics of the day, rating high amongst its daytime competitors.

Beyond TV hosting, Jones has evolved his career as an entrepreneur, media personality, writer and producer. In 2015, Jones was honored with his first Sports Emmy® Award for Outstanding Sports Documentary Series, Rand University, a film about former NFL wide receiver Randy Moss. A series on behalf of the critically acclaimed show 30 for 30 .

Bomani has written on sports, music, culture and politics for various online and print publications. He is a former contributor for SBNation.com, and the former host of The Morning Jones on The Score on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio.

His influence and contributions to media continue to inspire young gifted professionals in the community. Bomani was honored #17 of The Root 100 Most Influential African Americans list in 2016.

Jones is featured in 30 for 30 series Vick. He appeared in two sports documentaries on HBO: The Battle for Tobacco Road: Duke vs. Carolina, and Runnin’ Rebels, about basketball at UNLV. He also was in the A&E Biography of Michael Jackson. His venture into production extends numerous TV appearances, documentary interviews and cameos.
