Bonnie L. Vorenberg  

Bonnie L. Vorenberg (B.A., M.S. Theatre) is a nationally recognized expert in senior theatre.

She is considered a pioneer, having worked in the field since 1978 creating productions with and for seniors, from frail to very active. She founded and directed Arts for Elders, an arts academy for seniors and a professional touring company of mature performers so acclaimed it received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Bonnie is the author of Senior Theatre Connections: The First Compilation of Senior Theatre Performing Groups, Professionals, and Resources -- winner of a National Mature Media Award for excellence in educational materials for older adults. She edited the first anthology of new scripts, New Plays for Mature Actors and wrote the handbook, Enriching an Older Person’s Life Through Senior Adult Theatre. Ms. Vorenberg served as the National Enrichment Director for Hillhaven Corporation where she wrote Simple and Useful Activities in Adult Care Homes. Bonnie has written numerous local, regional and national articles on senior theatre and has recently been selected as a nationally syndicated columnist for Senior Wire.

She has spoken to many local, state, and national audiences including the National Council on Aging, the Association for Theatre in Higher Education, the National Park & Recreation Association, and numerous others. Bonnie Vorenberg Theather Workshop: Click for larger version

Bonnie currently operates ArtAge Publications where she writes a national newsletter, ArtAge Connects, publishes www.seniortheatre.com and provides information, education, & inspiration to encourage more opportunities for older performers. In addition, she chairs the Senior Theatre Focus Group for the Association of Theatre in Higher Education and is on the Governing Council of the newly formed Senior Theatre League of America.
