Brad Nessler
Brad Nessler, one of the top football announcers in the industry, joined ABC Sports in August 1997.
He teams with Pro Football Hall of Famers Bob Griese and Lynn Swann on ABC's college football telecasts.
From 2002-2004, Nessler was the primary play-by-play voice of the NBA on ABC/ESPN, broadcasting the Eastern Conference Finals in 2003 and 2004, and the NBA Finals of 2003. Starting at ESPN in 1992, he began his duties as a lead college basketball commentator, and held that same role for ESPN's college football games from 1992-1997.
The former radio voice of the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings had worked two years for CBS Sports before his stint with ESPN.
Nessler served as sports anchor and talk-show host for WGST-Radio in Atlanta, beginning in 1980. In 1985 he became sports director at WSB-Radio, also in Atlanta. He handled radio play-by-play of the Atlanta Falcons (1982-88), before assuming the same duty for the Minnesota Vikings on WCCO-Radio in Minneapolis in 1988-89. He worked on Georgia Tech basketball broadcasts from 1980-85, and was the radio voice of the Peach Bowl those same years. He has done play-by-play of ACC football and basketball for Raycom/Jefferson Pilot telecasts, and did WLAF games for USA Network(1991-92). Nessler has also served as play-by-play announcer for Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears preseason telecasts.
Nessler joined CBS in 1990 and worked NFL games, college football, and men's and women's basketball, including the NCAA Division 1 women's championship games. He was that network's host for speed skating coverage at the 1992 Olympic Winter Games in Albertville, France. He also worked several seasons on CBS Radio's Monday Night Football package.
A native of St. Charles, Minnesota, Nessler was born June 3,1956, and graduated from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University) in 1977 with a bachelor of arts degree in broadcasting. He is married, with one daughter, and resides in Georgia.
