Brandon Lyons

Advisory Consultant, Ernst & Young LLP; Overcame Paralysis

Brandon Lyons is an Advisory Consultant in the Advisory practice of Ernst & Young LLP. At Ernst & Young (EY), Brandon has had the opportunity to work across the media & entertainment, technology, power & utilities, and healthcare industries gaining broad sector knowledge. Prior to joining EY, Brandon managed two departments at a retail distribution center and completed an eight month co-op with a global consumer products company in their supply planning and international supply chain departments. On May 24, 2014 Brandon suffered a spinal cord injury as a result of a diving accident. Brandon destroyed his T5 and T6 vertebrae and severely damaged his spinal cord. The accident left him paralyzed from the chest down with a less than one percent chance of walking again. His ability to move or feel anything below his level of injury had been stripped away. Brandon is determined to overcome the challenges of paralysis. He is passionate about supporting others on their road to recovery by sharing his experiences. His mindset is simple; stay active. He has accomplished many accolades early in his recovery to help inspire others in difficult situations. Brandon completed the Marine Corps Marathon in October 2014 on a hand cycle, just five months post spinal cord surgery. He remains active by conducting his own rehabilitation and weight training at a local gym, mono-skiing and competing in sports like sledge hockey and wheelchair basketball. Brandon aspires to be an advocate for people with disabilities, especially spinal cord injuries.
