Brenda Darden Wilkerson

Social Justice Advocate, Education Policy Creator & CEO, AnitaB.org

As President and CEO of AnitaB.org, a nonprofit seeking to diversify tech by bringing in more women and nonbinary talent, Brenda Darden Wilkerson is an advocate for access, opportunity, and social justice for underrepresented communities in technology. Since taking the helm of the organization, she has boosted its membership from 1,600 to more than 75,000 technologists worldwide. Her guiding mission is to build an ecosystem of inclusive technology for all.

After years in the tech industry, Wilkerson found her way into education. Just prior to her role at AnitaB.org, she served as the Director of Computer Science and IT Education for Chicago Public Schools. There, she spearheaded the “Computer Science for All” program, which built computer science classes into the curriculum for every student in the district, the fourth-largest in the country. Her work on the program inspired the Obama administration's national "Computer Science For All" initiative.

Named to Forbes' "50 Over 50" list in 2023, Wilkerson serves as a board member of P33 Chicago, Chitech, and the Algorithmic Justice League.
