Brenda Song is an actress, singer, and producer. She began her career in show business as a child fashion model, and her early acting work included roles in the television series "Fudge" and "100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd." Her most notable roles from her youth came from signing a contract with Disney Channel and starring in the subsequent films and shows: Get a Clue, Stuck in the Suburbs, Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, "The Suit Life of Zack & Cody" and the spin-off "The Suite Life on Deck."
Song transitioned into mainstream film and television after finishing her stint on The Disney Channel, appearing in the critically acclaimed biographical drama The Social Network. She had recurring roles in numerous television series, including the ABC political thriller "Scandal" and the Fox sitcom "New Girl," as well as a starring role on "Dads." Song was subsequently cast in several television pilots for NBC and CBS, including the CBS medical drama series "Pure Genius," and went on to appear in multi-episode arcs of the action drama series "Station 19." Song has voiced the lead role of Anne Boonchuy in the Disney Channel animated series "Amphibia" and starred as Madison Maxwell in the Hulu comedy-drama series "Dollface." She also starred in the short indie drama film First Kiss, the romantic comedy film Angry Angel, the psychological thriller film Secret Obsession, and the comedy-drama film Changeland.
Song has been open about her struggle to find work after Disney as an Asian-American actress. She has praised Disney for their "colorblind" casting that she believed didn't exist anywhere else in the industry at that time. Song is an advocate for Asian representation in the entertainment industry and especially women of color assuming lead and important roles. Her role as London Tiption in "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" has been accredited as one of the first images of representation for young Asian girls.
Song is also a strong supporter and Ambassador for Stand Up2 Cancer as her mother is a four-time breast cancer survivor, and she lost her grandfather to the disease.
