Brenton Thwaites

Australian actor, best known the Australian TV series “Home and Away” and the “The Giver”

Brenton Thwaites is an Australian actor, best known the Australian TV series “Home and Away” and the “The Giver” with Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep.

Thwaites studied acting at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and graduated in 2010. In November 2010, Thwaites, along with Adele Perovic, Ben Schumann, Emily Robins, and Gracie Gilbert, was cast in a new Fox8 Australian teen drama series, “SLiDE.” The show follows five Brisbane teenagers making their way to adulthood. Thwaites believes his character, Luke Gallagher, "stands back a bit. He watches. He's struggling with family issues. He's drawn in as it was a chance to find better friends and an opportunity to be part of a group. He's a cool, accepted kid. Some friends he can love and help him mature."

Shortly after the show’s conclusion Thwaites relocated to Sydney from Cairns in April 2011, he was given a five–month recurring role of Stu Henderson in the 24th season of the soap opera “Home and Away.”

2014 was a banner year for Thwaites with roles in two highly anticipated films. First he appeared as Prince Phillip in the Angelina Jolie led “Maleficent” followed by “The Giver” costarring Meryl Streep.

In 2015, Thwaites appeared in a documentary, "That Sugar Film," that aims to reveal how perceived ‘healthy’ foods are in fact laden with hidden sugars like low fat yoghurt, muesli bars, juices and cereals.
