Brian Grazer
Academy Award-Winning Producer, Chairman & Co-Founder of Imagine Entertainment, Author of "A Curious Mind" & "Face to Face"
Brian Grazer is an Academy Award, Golden Globe, Emmy, and Grammy-winning producer and New York Times bestselling author. He co-founded Imagine Entertainment in 1986 with his longtime friend and business partner Ron Howard. Their collaboration has produced films and television shows that have been nominated for 47 Oscars and 217 Emmys. Grazer's films have grossed over $15 billion worldwide.
Grazer's productions span over a quarter of a century and almost the full spectrum of movie genres. His early successes include "Parenthood" (1989) and "Backdraft" (1991). In addition to these, Grazer has won the Producers Guild of America's Daryl F. Zanuck Motion Picture Producer of the Year Award for "Apollo 13" (1995). He has also produced many dramatic thrillers, including "Inside Man" (2006), "The Da Vinci Code" (2006), "Changeling" (2008), "Angels & Demons" (2009), "Robin Hood" (2010), and "Cowboys & Aliens" (2011). Additional films include "J. Edgar," the Clint Eastwood-directed biopic of J. Edgar Hoover, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, "Tower Heist," starring Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy, and "Restless," directed by Gus Van Sant.
Imagine Entertainment's television series include "Sports Night," "Felicity," "Arrested Development," "24" with Kiefer Sutherland, "Friday Night Lights," "Parenthood," "Lie to Me," and "Empire." In 2002, Grazer won an Oscar for Best Picture for "A Beautiful Mind" and has since continued to produce award-winning content, with his recent productions including "Hillbilly Elegy," "Tick, Tick...Boom!," and "Genius: Picasso." Additionally, Grazer produced "Get on Up," a biopic of the legendary "Godfather of Soul" James Brown, and "In the Heart of the Sea," directed by Ron Howard and starring Chris Hemsworth, about the American whaleship the Essex.
Apart from his production work, Grazer has published two books. His first book, “A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life,” was a New York Times bestseller. His second book, “Face to Face: The Art of Human Connection,” was released in September 2019. Grazer is also currently producing a biopic based on Anthony Kiedis' memoir.
Acknowledged by numerous organizations, Grazer was named one of Time Magazine’s "100 Most Influential People in the World" in 2007. Despite having dyslexia, Grazer advocates for people with disabilities and continues to influence the industry with his work.
