Bruce Nauman is an American artist who works in a broad range of mediums, including sculpture, photography, neon, video, drawing, printmaking, and performance art. His primary focus is on minimalism and contemporary and modern art. His unique pieces are featured at many famous museums including The Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and The Art Institute of Chicago.

Nauman studied mathematics and physicals at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1960 to 1964 then went on to study art at the University of California, Davis, where he graduated with an MFA in 1996. He has taught at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1966 to 1968 and University of California at Irvine in 1970. While teaching, he also experimented with sculpture and performance art and collaborated with William Allan and Robert Nelson on various film projects. The film projects he worked on include Walking in an Exaggerated Manner Around the Perimeter of a Square and Bruce Nauman: Make Me Think.
