Buster Benson

Entrepreneur; CEO of 750words.com; Author of "Why Are We Yelling? The Art of Productive Disagreement"

Buster Benson is an entrepreneur and CEO of 750words.com. He is the former product leader at Amazon, Twitter, Slack, and Patreon.

750words.com is a platform that encourages users to write 750 words, or about three pages, a day. Benson believes that getting into the habit of writing daily will help clear your mind and get the ideas flowing for the rest of the day. The site, which stores journal entries privately, tracks your word count, awards points for writing, and creates competition between friends.

As the mastermind behind some of the highest-performing teams at Amazon, Twitter, and Slack, Benson has spent decades facilitating hard conversations in stressful environments. In his book, "Why Are We Yelling? The Art of Productive Disagreement," Benson reveals the psychological underpinnings of awkward, unproductive conflict and the critical habits anyone can learn to avoid it. He shares 8 things we can practice in order to improve in the art of productive disagreement.

In addition to his book, Benson writes for Medium and busterbenson.com frequently.

Benson grew up in Irvine and surrounding areas, moved to Berkeley for college in 1994, and transferred to Seattle in 1995. Benson currently lives in Berkeley, CA with his wife and two children.
