Economist Byron Auguste is the CEO & Co-Founder of Opportunity @ Work – a nonprofit social enterprise whose mission is to increase access to middle-wage jobs for the 70+ million U.S. workers who are Skilled Through Alternative Routes (STARs) and do not currently have a bachelor's degree.

Prior to Opportunity @ Work, Auguste served as Deputy Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council in the Obama Administration, with a focus on innovation and job creation, productivity and wage growth. Auguste has also advised Fortune 500 companies at McKinsey & Company where he led the firm’s social sector practice and was the first Black Director in McKinsey history.

Auguste’s insights and thought leadership on talent and the future of work have been featured at events for the Federal Reserve, the Brookings Institute, the Fortune CEO Initiative, and profiled in the New York Times, Bloomberg, NPR, Washington Post, Wired, The Guardian, and more.
