Peters is president and CEO of Pet Partners, since 2014. She has focused the organization on the importance of educating the public on standards for therapy animal teams and why animal-assisted interventions work. Under her leadership, the Human Animal Bond Advisory Board was created, and Pet Partners is supporting research about the effectiveness of therapy animal teams.

With more than 20 years of leadership experience, Peters was previously vice president of personal giving and special events for Special Olympics International, executive director of the Science Museum of Virginia Foundation, president of the Arthritis Foundation’s Virginia chapter, and a director at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
