David Thomson has a passion for innovation, business-building and leadership.

Based on 3 years of research and over 75 interviews with leading executives, Thomson identified the success pattern of America’s highest growth companies. Blueprint to a Billion is the first quantitative assessment that identifies the exponential growth pattern of the 5% of companies that IPOd since 1980 and achieved over $1 billion revenue.

Since being published in January 2006, the book has appeared in such well know publications as Investors Business Daily, Entrepreneur Magazine, American Way, Leader to Leader (formerly Peter Drucker Foundation) with featured articles to appear in May in Fortune Small Business, New York Times and Red Herring Magazine. Thomson has presented the Blueprint to top tier VC firms, NASDAQ 100 CEOs, the Churchill Club and at Deloitte & Touche Fast Company Awards. In addition to the book, Thomson is incubating a stock fund and serves as a business-building coach.

Thomson has a 20 year career building billion dollar business in corporate America. Most recently, he led customer solutions selling for HP’s top 15 North American customers. Shaping multi-hundred million dollar opportunities directly addressing CIO strategic transformation initiatives. In addition to sales initiatives, Thomson consulted to CIOs to identify the shareholder value opportunities through IT Transformation.

Prior to HP, Thomson served as an Associate Principal during his 5 years at McKinsey & Company. During his tenure, he was engaged by clients to solve operational effectiveness, call center, acquisition and strategy problems. Complementing Thomson’s client service, he developed problem solving and storyline tools for education for up-and-coming consultants.

The hallmark of Thomson’s career at Nortel Networks was the development and standardization of advanced Caller ID services; Caller ID on Call Waiting and Telemarker Call Rejection. This initiative, in partnership with Bell South launched a billion dollar software and telephone business for Nortel. David’s last two senior executive positions held at Nortel were General Manager, Residential Services and Vice President, Sales and Marketing.
