Camaron Marvel Ochs, best known as Cam, is an American country singer and songwriter. Celebrated for her grittiness, honesty, and compelling voice, Cam has emerged as a major figure in the modern country landscape. Her music, known for its empowering narratives and Nashville storytelling traditions, has made a significant impact, starting with her 2015 full-length debut, "Untamed." This album not only debuted in the Top 15 of the Billboard Top 200 and reached #2 on the Top Country Albums Chart, but it also featured the double-platinum hit "Burning House." This song, which was nominated for "Best Country Solo Performance" at the 2016 Grammy Awards, remains the most-downloaded song by a female country artist since 2015.
In 2019, Cam collaborated with Diplo on the track "So Long (feat. Cam)" for his Thomas Wesley project, showcasing her versatility across music genres. Her latest album, "The Otherside," was released on Triple Tigers in 2020 and further highlights her dynamic artistry. Beyond recording, Cam has enriched her career with notable live performances, including a stint on the North American leg of Sam Smith's "Thrill of It All Tour," and appearances alongside prominent artists like Harry Styles, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, George Strait, Alicia Keys, Eric Church, and Smokey Robinson.
Apart from her music career, Cam is a staunch advocate for diversity and inclusion within the music industry. She is a member of The Recording Academy's Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion and actively participated in a virtual panel at the event Color Me Country, discussing "Striving for Diversity and Authentic Representation in Country Music." Furthermore, she delivered a keynote, "Life can be tough. Music can help," at TEDxUniversityofNevada, where she also performed "Burning House," "Runaway Train," and "Village." Cam continues to use her platform to promote music education and the psychological benefits of music, reinforcing her role as a influential voice in country music.
