Cam Heyward

Defensive End for the Pittsburgh Steelers

Cam Heyward is an American football defensive end for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL).

Heyward's football career began in high school where he was named the 2006 Georgia Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year. After high school, Heyward played football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. As a true freshman in 2007, Heyward was named a freshman All-American by Sporting News, Rivals.com and Scout.com after recording 30 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 2 passes broken up. The Ohio State Buckeyes went to the BCS National Championships with Heyward as a freshman.

Following his graduation from college, Heyward was drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Since entering the NFL, he has appeared in 80 consecutive games, which is tied for the fifth-longest active consecutive games played streak by an NFL defensive end entering the 2016 season.

Heyward has been recognized as the 2014 Pro Football Writers’ “The Chief Award,” which was established in honor of the Steelers’ founder, Arthur J. Rooney, Sr., and is presented annually to the Steeler that best exemplifies the spirit of cooperation with the media.
