Camryn Manheim

Actress; Human Rights Activist; Writer & Producer

Acclaimed actress and social activist Camryn Manheim, known for her Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning role on The Practice, has always paved her own path. With success on TV, film, and the bestseller list, Manheim’s career has been defined by versatility, determination, and a sense of adventure.

Her rare talents as a comedic and dramatic actress have earned Manheim roles on some of the biggest shows on TV. Best known for her Emmy-winning turn on The Practice, Manheim has also won laughs on Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, and Will & Grace and shook audiences with roles on Person of Interest and Law & Order. On film, appeared in the cult classic Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. Currently, she stars opposite Halle Berry in the CBS series Extant from executive producer Steven Spielberg.

Manheim’s fierce determination to defy the beauty myth and casting stereotypes on- and off-screen has resulted in one of Hollywood’s most remarkable success stories. Her New York Times bestseller, Wake Up I’m Fat!, detailed her life with candor and humor. In a TIME magazine essay she wrote, “I dream of a time when we can all accept ourselves and one another. My dream is that by 2025 I'll no longer be getting letters every week from young girls who hate themselves because of the way they look.”

Off-screen, Manheim raised everyone’s expectations as a professional poker player, competing on Celebrity Poker Showdown and Celebrity Blackjack. She later used her newfound talents to help others, hosting and playing in celebrity poker tournaments.

Manheim was named one of the “Most Intriguing People” by People magazine and “Woman of the Year” by Glamour. Always passionate, with a dash of irreverence, her lectures cover everything from show business to self-esteem. Manheim reminds audiences that life is not a dress rehearsal and to get the part, they must first believe in themselves.

A vocal advocate for human rights, Manheim’s social activism has included work with American Civil Liberties Union, RAINN, and Planned Parenthood. She has been honored by the National Council of Jewish Women, the National Lawyers Guild, and received an E! Fashion award from Joan Rivers, which she claims was the hardest award to get.
