Grammy Award-Winning Rapper Known for "Bodak Yellow"

Belcalis Almanzar, known professionally as Cardi B, is a hip-hop recording artist, as well as a television and social media personality. She first embarked on a career as a stripper and began to receive public attention as she built a large Internet following, with her videos going viral on social media, namely Vine and her official Instagram page.

Born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, Cardi B became a regular cast member during the sixth and seventh season of the VH1 reality television series "Love & Hip Hop: New York" in 2015. In February 2017, she signed her first major-label record deal with Atlantic Records.

Her debut single for Atlantic, titled "Bodak Yellow", reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, with the New York Times calling it "the rap anthem of the summer." In 2018, Time magazine included her on its list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Her 2018 debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, broke several streaming records and went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. Cardi B was the first woman to win that award as a solo artist.

Cardi B identifies as a feminist, and she is outspoken on political issues. She supported Bernie Sanders in his 2016 and 2020 Presidential campaigns and has used social media to advocate for issues she believes in, like gun control.
