Carla Babb is an award-winning reporter and producer for Voice of America News based in Washington.

They say being a journalist requires knowing a little bit about everything. Well, the truth is, you have to know a lot about everything.
Anyone who tells you differently is either so far along in their career that they no longer need to be a human encyclopedia, or they are on their way to a swift retirement.
We are the lucky ones who get to write tomorrow’s history. One week, you’re covering floods in Pakistan, and the next you’re off to the horse races in Maryland.
One minute you’re on the radio, and the next you’re weaving together a TV report or adding a slide show to the website. At the Voice of America, reporters get the added excitement of knowing our stories are broadcasted in more than 40 languages, reaching millions across the globe.
As a journalist for VOA, I’ve reported from Islamabad, the White House and our headquarters in Washington. I’ve covered the breaking news of the killing of Osama bin Laden by US forces and the chaos erupting during Egypt’s revolution.
I’ve also reported on the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton and the struggle to preserve ancient Indus ruins in Harappa, Pakistan.
Last year, I completed a 90-day detail as producer and on-air reporter for VOA’s new weekly magazine show, Perspectives with Setareh.
Guests included UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, Walter Isaaacson, Steve Forbes, Senator Kay Hagan and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
I speak Arabic, and before joining the VOA team I reported across the Middle East.
I covered then-Senator Barack Obama’s trip to Amman, Jordan, and explored the difficult balance between tourism and archaeology in Egypt.
