Carly Pearce was born in Taylor Mill, Kentucky, on April 24, 1990. At age 16, Pearce dropped out of school and moved to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to perform five shows a week at Dollywood. During that time, she also contributed to bluegrass compilation albums.

In 2012, she signed a developmental deal with Sony Music Nashville, but that was ultimately unsuccessful. Her debut single, "Every Little Thing," hit #1 on the US Country Airplay chart. Pearce is engaged to Michael Ray, another well-known country singer.
