Carol Duvall

Referred to as "The Queen of Crafts", Carol is a well known TV Personality and Author

Duvall is considered an expert in the field of crafting. She is host of the popular "Carol Duvall Show", which began airing on HGTV in 1994 and continues to be seen twice each day on HGTV.com and on the DIY Network.

She began her broadcast career with a daily children's television show in Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1951. She spent 18 years in Detroit as host of an hour-long morning show, and was co-producer for the show. She also hosted a five-minute craft-oriented program that aired daily for 14 years, and in the 1980s was featured as a family member on "The Home Show" on ABC-TV.

Duvall began making unique paper creations when she was a child, selling her designs in the neighborhood where she lived. She later partnered with a friend to produce an interesting and entertaining children's show, which led to the first live television program to be aired in Grand Rapids.

One of the weekly features on the show was called "Doing Day," where Duvall demonstrated creative crafts that viewers could make at home. The segment helped to launch Duvall to her present-day status as the queen of crafts.

Duvall’s first craft book, published in 1972, was titled "Wanna Make Something Out of It?" Before there was such a thing as crafting stores and products, Duvall was simply using her creativity to fashion original objects out of what was on hand. “That’s where my mind still goes when I have a project to create,” she says. “I think ‘What do I have in the house?’”

Her most recent book, “Paper Crafting with Carol Duvall,” published in 2007, has more than 45 projects in a variety of paper crafting categories, including card and envelope making, gift boxes, crafting with photos, embellishments, paper craft ideas from Duvall's viewers, and more. "I began making things with paper before paper crafting was called an art," she said, "and many of the designs in my book are projects I've developed over many years. There are also new ideas that I've created just for the book."  In her usual style, Duvall employs ordinary, easy to find materials, and a good dose of humor.
