Caryl Rivers and Rosalind Barnett  

Co-Authors of "Lifeprints" & Experts on Women in the Workplace

Dr. Rosalind C. Barnett is a senior scientist who was recently named one of the top 25 work and family researchers in the world, by Brigham Young University.

She also Received a 2018 Top Ten Extraordinary Contributor to Work and Family Research award from the Work and Family Research Network. Dr. Barnett has directed research projects for the National Science Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Science Foundation, and others. She has held senior research positions at the Wellesley College's Centers for Women, The Henry A. Murray Research Center at Harvard University, and Brandeis University.

Caryl Rivers is a professor of Journalism at Boston university, and was cited in Feminists Who Changed America 1963-1975 (U of Illinois Press.) She received the Helen Thomas Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Society of Professional Journalists, and Donna Allen award for Feminist Advocacy from the AEJMC Status of Women commission. Also, a Goldsmith Research Grant, from the Shorenstein Center at the JFK School of Government, Harvard University, for research on gender and media issues; and a Gannett Freedom Forum Journalism Grant for research on media.

The pair has been writing critically acclaimed books on gender for four decades.

Their book, The New Soft War on Women (Tarcher/ Penguin) 2013, was an Oprah magazine Top Ten picks. In 2011 they won both the Casey Medal for distinguished journalism and a special citation from the National Education Writers Association for opinion columns.

The Editorial Board of the Boston Globe voted their book Same Difference (Basic) one of the best books of the year. And the New York Times called their book She Works, He Works a bold new framing of the story of the American family, and praised its lucid prose. (Harper Collins. winner of the 1996 Books for a Better Life Award.)

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation designated their book Lifeprints (McGraw-Hill) as a "classic book" from the work-family canon that has made "a significant contribution and stood the test of time." (The book was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.)
