Former U.S. Presidential Appointee; Head of Capital of Global Leader Group & Author of "Exceptional -Being the Exception to the Rule"

Cassius F. Butts is the Managing Partner and Head of Capital with Global Leader Group and the founder of Capital Fortitude Business Advisors, a management consulting firm. He is also an Amazon best-selling author; Pursuit:365 Business Edition where he was a contributing author and Exceptional: Being the Exception to the Rule, his first book on Leadership. Additionally, he serves as an adjunct professor of Leadership & Professional Development at his alma mater, Morehouse College.

In 2018 Butts was appointed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp the chairman of the Fort McPherson Local Redevelopment Authority to lead the reuse planning for the 487-acre former military installation in Atlanta. Tyler Perry Studios and T. D. Jakes Real Estate Ventures are the lead entities creating southwest Atlanta’s second largest economic development project in more than 50 years. Gov. Kemp also appointed Butts to serve on the Georgia Tourism Foundation Board in April 2024. In 2022, President Joe Biden appointed Butts to the National General Services Administration’s Policy Acquisition Committee where he served as co-chair. As co-chair, he ensured climate and sustainability strategies were fully considered in the federal acquisition process.

Butts’ public service career includes positions as the former Region IV Administrator for the U. S. Small Business Administration, appointed by President Barack Obama. He was the first African American to serve in that role. During his tenure, he managed five record breaking years with over $30 billion dollars in small business lending. He also served as a Presidential Management Fellow under the George W. Bush Administration with the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). While at HUD, he assisted in the establishment of a multi-million marketing procurement process and was named Branch Chief of the Real Estate Owned division.
