Catarina Mota's keynotes focus on the areas of smart materials and collaborative projects. She strives to help humanity advance through utilizing what we have and building off of each other. This vision is exemplified in her website called Open Materials, which is dedicated to sharing innovative projects created with smart materials. She is also involved with two other sites including Everywhere Tech and AltLab.

Caterina Mota's keynotes are given in between finishing up her Ph.D. dissertation which is on the social impact of open and collaborative practices for the development of physical goods and technologies. Beforehand she received an MPS in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU and a BS in Communication Sciences at the New University of Lisbon.
