Cécile McLorin Salvant is a Jazz singer, composer and visual artist whose work focuses on identity, storytelling, and taboos. She has won a Grammy award for best Jazz Vocal Album in 2016 and in 2018. In 2019, she was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in Music.

She won first place in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2010 and released her first alnum shortly after that. Her album WomanChild was nominated for a 2014 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
