Sharanya Chandran is currently Consultant in the National Skill Development Agency (Ministry of Finance), Government of India. Prior to this, Sharanya was a Young Professional in Office of Minister of State for Planning at the Planning Commission of India, the country’s apex policy-making body. Following her high school from New Delhi’s Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Sharanya pursued a BA Honours Degree from the prestigious Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. Subsequently, she pursued her Masters in Development Studies from the London School of Economics as an INLAKS Scholar. She has additionally interned with the UN-ESCAP in Bangkok and has also worked as Research Assistant for a project on modes of service delivery in the slums of Delhi, conducted by the Institute for development Studies, University of Sussex--UK. Concurrently, Sharanya is a Nationally graded Classical Bharatanatyam Dancer with over 20 years of training and an impressive slew of performances in India and abroad. She is Vice-President of Natya Vriksha, a leading organization for promoting culture. In this capacity, every year, to mark World Dance Day, Sharanya also actively promotes an annual classical dance festival for young artists.
