Chanel Porchia-Albert, CD, CPD, CLC, CHHC is committed to improving infant and maternal health. Ancient Song provides doula training and services, community education, and advocacy for policy change to support reproductive and birth justice.
Porchia-Albert's work has taken her across the world to Uganda where she worked as a maternal health strategist and board member of Village Birth International, assisting mothers in rural areas. She is working with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to establish a doula program throughout Addis Ababa; sits on advisory boards with Ariadne Labs at Harvard School of Public Health, Columbia University Medical School, and various others; and serves as a consultant on birth justice and provider engagement with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as well as on various independent projects with Ancient Song. She is a Commissioner on the NYC Commission for Gender Equity.
Ancient Song has been featured in CNN’s “Champions for Change,” The New York Times, SELF, and Vogue. She received the Just Brooklyn Prize in 2023 presented by The Social Justice Fund in partnership with the Brooklyn Community Foundation.
