Charli XCX

British Singer-Songwriter

Charli XCX, an accomplished English singer and songwriter, gained prominence collaborating with the Swedish duo Icona Pop on the hit song "I Love It". She released her debut studio album, "True Romance", in 2013, marking her arrival into the world of international pop music. She further solidified her foothold in the industry by contributing to the song "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea, which was one of the best-selling singles worldwide in 2014. Her second studio album, "Sucker", released the same year, included successful singles like "Break the Rules" and "Doing It".

Always exploring new directions in her music, Charli XCX has worked with producers associated with the UK collective PC Music, developing a more experimental sound and image. This experimentation has been well received, as her third and fourth studio albums, "Charli" and "How I'm Feeling Now", garnered widespread acclaim. Her fifth studio album, "Crash", released in 2022, became her biggest commercial success to date, demonstrating her continuous growth as an artist. Additionally, Charli XCX's talent extends to writing as well, having co-written songs for other artists, including Iggy Azalea, Selena Gomez, and Blondie, among others. Her contributions to pop music were recognized in 2024 when she was awarded the ASCAP Global Impact Award.

Charli XCX's musical journey began at a young age. By 14, she had recorded her first album, "14", and by 2008 she had released the singles "!Franchesckaar!" and "Emelline"/"Art Bitch". Her early music caught the attention of a promoter running illegal warehouse raves and parties in East London, which led to her signing with Asylum Records in 2010. She has a notable academic background as well, having studied fine art at UCL's Slade School of Fine Art. Over the years, Charli XCX's music has been described as dance-pop, electropop, pop punk, and alternative pop. She has been an advocate for LGBT+ rights and has spoken about her experiences with sound-to-colour synesthesia. Today, she divides her time between London and Los Angeles, continuing to shape the landscape of pop music.
