Charlie Dent leads bipartisan, bicameral policy education programs for sitting members of Congress. In addition to his role as a Vice President of the Aspen Institute and Executive Director of its Congressional Program, he is a regular Political Commentator for CNN, MSNBC, and other media outlets. He is also a Senior Policy Advisor to the global law firm, DLA Piper and serves on the boards of nonprofit organizations including CARE USA and The National Archives Foundation.

In recent years, Dent has served as a Distinguished Advisor for Pew Charitable Trusts, a Visiting Fellow for the University of Pennsylvania, Perry World House, and the Inaugural Visiting Fellow at Penn State’s McCourtney Institute for Democracy. Prior to those positions, he served 7 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives representing the 15th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, and 14 years in the Pennsylvania General Assembly with eight and six years in the State House and State Senate, respectively.

As a Member of Congress, Dent served as a Subcommittee Chair of the House Appropriations Committee and chaired the House Ethics Committee. Prior to that, he helped establish the House Homeland Security Committee where he served for six years. During that time, Dent also served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and one term on the Government Reform and Oversight Committee.

Dent holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Service and International Politics from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Public Administration from Lehigh University. He is married to his wife, Pamela, and they have three grown children, Kathryn, William, and Jack.
