4-Time Olympian, Breast Cancer Survivor & Health Equity Advocate

Chaunté Lowe is a highly accomplished American high jumper. Over her career, she has competed in four Olympic Games -- the 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympics. Lowe has made her mark on the international stage, securing three Global Championship medals and setting three American records. Notably, she won a bronze medal in the high jump at the 2008 Olympics, a silver medal at the 2005 World Championships, and a gold medal at the 2012 World Indoor Championships in the high jump. Besides her athletic achievements, she is also a dedicated mother of three.

Lowe's prowess in the high jump has ensured that she holds the American record in the women's high jump with a clearance of 2.05 m in 2010 and the indoor record with a clearance of 2.02 m in 2012. Before her professional career, she had a distinguished high school career at John W. North High School in Riverside, California, and led her team to the state team championships. Her academic journey continued as she graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in May 2008 and is attending Western Governors University for her master's degree.

As a speaker, Lowe is known for her animated, engaging, and humorous style. She leverages her personal experiences to inspire audiences, sharing her stories of overcoming challenging odds. Her compelling narrative and infectious personality have made her a sought-after resilience speaker.

Off the track, Lowe faced one of her largest hurdles in 2019 when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, a particularly aggressive form of the disease. Despite the diagnosis, she chose to continue to train while undergoing a double mastectomy and chemotherapy, hoping to secure her spot on the postponed 2020 US Olympic team. This extraordinary display of resilience earned her the NCAA Inspiration Award in 2021.

Leveraging her personal experiences, Lowe is now a dedicated advocate for early detection and breast cancer awareness. Her advocacy work has reached hundreds of millions of people, and she was honored with the 'Hero Among Us' award and included in Georgia Tech’s 40 under 40 2021 Class.
