Film Marketing Executive & Former President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Cheryl Boone Isaacs is a film marketing and public relations executive. She has represented the Public Relations Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), known for its annual Academy Awards (Oscars), on the AMPAS Board of Governors for 21 years as of 2013. On July 30, 2013 she was elected as the 35th president of AMPAS and on August 11, 2015 she was re-elected. Boone Isaacs was the first African American to hold this office, and the third woman (after Bette Davis and Fay Kanin).

Boone Isaacs currently heads CBI Enterprises, Inc., where she consults on marketing efforts for such films as “The Call,” “The Artist,” “The King’s Speech,” “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,” “Spider-Man 2” and “Tupac: Resurrection.”

Previously, she served as president of theatrical marketing for New Line Cinema, where she oversaw numerous box office successes, including “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” and “Rush Hour.”

Prior to joining New Line in 1997, she was executive vice president of worldwide publicity for Paramount Pictures, where she orchestrated publicity campaigns for the Best Picture winners “Forrest Gump” and “Braveheart.”

Boone Isaacs was the 2013 BESLA (Black Entertainment Sports Lawyers Association) honoree. She is a proud 2014 inductee in the NAACP Hall of Fame. Additionally, Boone Isaacs is the 2014 recipient of the AAFCA (African American Film Critics Association) Horizon Award, and Essence Magazine honored her with the 2014 Trailblazer Award.

Boone Isaacs earned her B.A. in Politics at Whittier College.
