Chris Klug

Professional Snowboarder, Organ Transplant Recipient, Motivational Speaker, & Olympic Medalist

Chris Klug is a professional alpine snowboarder. Diagnosed with a rare liver disease, affecting only one in 10,000, Chris spent almost seven years on the waiting list for a new liver. In 2000, Klug underwent a liver transplant. He was back on the podium five months later at the World Cup, and went on to compete in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where he won a bronze medal. Klug became the first transplantee to compete in the Olympics. He also lit the torch at the 2002 US Transplant Games.

Chris Klug competed in all of the disciplines early on in his snowboarding career. It helped him become a strong, all-around rider. In 2004, Klug released a book called To the Edge and Back: My Story from Organ Transplant Survivor to Olympic Snowboarder.

He is an active supporter of organ donation and founded the Chris Klug Foundation and Donor Dudes to spread awareness of the need for organ donors.

His story proves that every successful career has its trying times, and a Chris Klug speaker appearance is an opportunity to remind your audience to fight through even the most difficult of circumstances.
