Founding Partner of Krebs Stamos Group; Former Director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)

Christopher Krebs, an attorney with a background in cybersecurity and risk management, is a founding partner of the Krebs Stamos Group. He co-founded this cybersecurity consultancy with Alex Stamos, the former security chief of Facebook. Krebs also previously served as the first director of the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) from November 2018 to November 2020. As Director, Mr. Krebs oversaw CISA’s efforts to manage risk to the nation’s businesses and government agencies, bringing together partners to collectively defend against cyber and physical threats. At CISA, Mr. Krebs also pioneered the Rumor Control program, which was designed to counter disinformation campaigns. He was dismissed from this position by President Donald Trump after he contradicted Trump's claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Before serving as CISA Director, Mr. Krebs served in various roles at the Department of Homeland Security, including Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Infrastructure Protection. Prior to his time at DHS, he directed U.S. cybersecurity policy for Microsoft and advised industry and government clients on complex cybersecurity and business risk matters while serving in positions with Obsidian Analysis and Dutko Consulting.

After his public service, Krebs was hired by SolarWinds, a software company, to review its practices and advise clients on cybersecurity. In addition to his roles in the public sector and private industry, Krebs is involved in the Issue One—Council for Responsible Social Media project, which aims to address social media's negative impacts in the United States.

Krebs holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University.
